We’ve touched on why combining email and SMS can be a productive use of your time. But what does that partnership look like in action? In short, we recommend using Klaviyo to create anticipation for your product: making sure people are aware of your brand and what you’re offering.
Meanwhile, Voodoo SMS can be used to draw in those last minute, lapsed, or undecided customers, and to keep conversation open for future competitions.
To simplify, there are five easy steps.
1 Keep Your Customers in Mind #
Think about your customers in three categories:
- Potential customers
- Lapsed customers
- Recent customers
You will then need to set up flows on Klaviyo to personalise and tailor emails to each category.
2 Set up email flows on Klaviyo #
‘Flows’ are the system of automation that Klaviyo uses. Klaviyo has a pre-built library of potential flows that you can use. All that this means, is your emails are triggered to send by certain customer actions – which makes it an important step in planning out your communications. This makes it easier for you and it ensures that customers are getting a personalised experience.
Here are the flows that you might set up with the above three categories in mind:
- Abandon cart triggers (Potential Customers)
- Winbacks (Lapsed Customers)
- Post-purchase confirmation (Recent Customers)
3 Voodoo and SMS Marketing #
To persuade potential customers and lapsed customers to get involved and re-engaged, you need to create a sense of urgency. SMS is perfect for this.
Timing is everything: Automate a re-engagement SMS flow to be sent to potential customers (i.e. those who abandoned their carts at checkout, or never got past the browsing stage). The most effective time to send re-engagement SMS campaigns is in the last 24-hour window before a competition deadline.
The biggest benefit of SMS is the instant communication straight to people’s phones. There’s no need for wifi or for customers to refresh their inbox – they instantly get alerts, so that they’re aware in plenty of time.
4 Keep the conversation going! #
This step relates to those who DO purchase tickets. Voodoo offers excellent Keep In Touch Methods, which means that you can keep their interest, long-term. Simply automate an order confirmation text for those who consent to telemarketing, and follow it up a week or so later with a Call to Action, such as a new competition or a referral to your website or newsletter where they can stay up to date.
5 Analyse and Improve #
To continue growing and thriving, you have to think about what went well and what you could improve on so that each campaign is bigger and better.
You’ll be offered a delivery report by Voodoo, which measures the following Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- How many messages were sent?
- How many did you receive back?
- How many messages were successfully delivered?
- How many bounced?
- How many are pending (i.e. still with the network, not yet reached the customer).
