With the Automatic Winner Drawing feature, you can streamline the process of selecting winners for your competitions. Here’s a step-by-step guide to set it up.
1. Enable Automatic Winner Drawing #
First navigate to the Product Editing Page, in your WordPress dashboard and either open the product editing page for the competition you want to configure or create a new competition.
If creating a new product, fill out all the relevant fields as you would usually then save/publish your changes. This is important in order for the auto draws button to appear.
Then locate the Automatic Drawing Option, Scroll down to the Questions section. Here, you’ll see a new checkbox with the option:
‘Enable this to automatically draw a winner when the competition ends.’
Check this box to allow the plugin to automatically draw a winner when the competition ends.
2. Select the Correct Answer (if Applicable) #
If your competition includes a question, select the correct answer from the options provided. Only participants who select the correct answer will be eligible to win.
Note: For competitions without a question (typically added by admins), all tickets are automatically considered eligible, and these entries will display as N/A.
3. Set the Draw Date #
The automatic drawing will occur up to 15 minutes after the “Draw Date.”
To ensure all eligible entries are counted, set the Draw Date to approximately 10 minutes after the competition’s end date.

4. Assign a Category #
Categories help organize your competitions and differentiate them from one another.
While editing the competition, select the Auto-Draw category (or another relevant one) to distinguish this competition.

5. Configure Winner Display #
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Zap Competitions > Draw Results.
Under the Show Winner Categories setting, select the categories you want to display on your website. This helps visitors easily find winners for specific competitions.

6. Add a notification email #
If you would like to be informed when an auto draw winner has been selected, this can be added by going to WooCommerce->Settings->Zap Competitions->Auto Draw Settings->Insert an admin email address.
7. Add a banner showing it’s an Auto Draw #
You may wish to display a banner on the comps to show that the competition is an Auto Draw. To enable the banner, categorise the competition as an Auto-Draw, and then under Product Data > Product Banner
,override the Date Banner to show the category. This will show to the customers that it’s an auto draw.
Additional Notes: #
- Timing Considerations:
- Ensure the Draw Date is set after the competition’s end date to prevent an early draw. A 10-minute buffer allows for delayed payments or last-minute entries.
- Eligible Tickets:
- For competitions with a question, only participants who answer correctly are eligible. For admin-added tickets without a question, all tickets (marked as N/A) are considered eligible.
- Automatic Drawing Process:
- Once configured, the plugin will conduct the draw automatically within 15 minutes after the Draw Date. No manual intervention is needed. If the draw fails, an email notification will be sent to the admin.
- Winners post
- Winners posts will be published based on settings in Zap Winners
By following these steps, you’ll enable automatic winner drawing for your competitions and ensure an efficient and fair process.
