These days, it all happens down the phone. That little gadget that most people have on their person at all times.
People spend an average of 4 and a half hours on their phones every single day. That’s a LOT of screen time. Which could also mean a lot of eyes on your business. But those views are only going to become conversions if you’ve taken the time to optimise your content for mobile users.
Here’s how.
⚡️Mobile Optimisation: Best Practice #
- Single-column layout – Less is more when it comes to your email layouts. Arrange all content in a single, vertical column so that, by simply scrolling up and down, your reader can see everything you want to say
- Short subject lines – So information doesn’t run off the page in the smaller, mobile inbox
- Image optimisation – Slow-loading files are a huge stumbling block for email marketers. People live fast, digital lives. Optimise your images so they load quickly, or people will just close the email
- Use high-quality pictures (websites such as Unsplash can offer free-to-use, high-res pictures). Make sure to compress these where necessary. Files should be no more than 1MB
- If you’re unsure, use RESPONSIVE email templates – these adapt to the device they’re viewed on, so you can cover all bases
- Include ALT-Text descriptions of images – to improve inclusivity AND to ensure that customers who have images turned off by default still get to the core of your message.
